Teamed up with my neighbor Rich to help a kid get a cage done in his CJ. Customer supplied the material (1.5" x .120" wall HREW) and pretty much designed the thing - we were basically just labor. It was only heavy tacked since he wanted to do the welding later.
IMO, there's an obvious design no-no but, well, you know...

Good to see you wipe the dust off that bender old man. Dude did make some interesting design choices. Can't argue too much with the guy paying the bill.
BTW... If you hit enter after each pic upload, we won't have to scroll to the right ya old fart.

They really should be diagonal bars but the guy sits real tall so head room was paramount.
The bars I was talking about are the ones that go from the rear 85 degree bends to the factory 45 degree bars - this was added after the back top bar was done and as such, isn't even close to being in line with the back bar...just looks funky to me.
BTW - the customer is adding 45 degree gusset bars to all tube intersections - this will add significant strength.

i did a very basic design and just made it several inches taller than everyone elses because i'm 6'4" myself. when it comes to jeeps, its an advantage to being short....unless your talking about getting into a lifted jeep

Only problem I have with it is that I was not invited to drink beer and watch from the peanut gallery.

If not... the sky is the limit.
