We found a 98' Cherokee on craigslist with a blown head gasket for $650, when we got there it didn't have a 4.0 as advertised and I was outa there, but he offered it to us for $250 so I couldn't resist.  The head was shot, so $50 more from the junk yard and some gaskets and it runs!  Passed smog without a problem.  The A/C wasn't working and we found that a check valve in the vacuum line that fwas installed backwards, flipped it around and it works perfectly.  It's not very fast with the A/C on so we opened up the intake manifold and installed a 4.0 throttle body, 7.5hp baby!.  We then added some 3" front springs to get it off the ground and need to do 1" in the back to level it out, I think we'll throw a spring from a YJ in the pack.  Last thing was a dash pod with actual guages and not just idiot lights.  The brand new pioneer supertuner is worth more than I paid for the whole vehicle.  We're up to $400 invested, I think its a good deal.  We are gonna put some tires on it this week, doubling the value of the thing.

Robby gets his liscense in a week, I think he's excited........  He won't be winning any races!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!!!

Wish my first car was that awesome.  No rust.  Has a floor.  Has a/c.  Has a heater/defroster.  Has two working windshield wipers.  Has a stereo that you don't have to bungie down to the seat or put batteries in.  Whatta dad!

Looks clean.  And a modest horsepower vehicle combined with a new license is a good combination.

Way to go Robby!  Needs a chase radio now!

I keep threatening to take it away from him, it's so nice!  I just can't believe the deal we ran into with it.  It is a gutless wonder, but it goes!  He'll have fun with it.  He can't wait to chase in it, so yes, Bob, he does need a radio in it for that!
