Christmas for the troops....
I know it sounds crazy but, I would like to be more prepared than I was last time getting the gifts to the troops.
I plan on trying to get sponsors like verizon, sprint for phone cards etc...Any ideas on what else besides phone calls for communication for the troops would be appreciated.
Amy or anyone who knows of a company that will be in Iraq during Christmas please PM me.
If you would like to donate, please PM me amd I will give you my address...Once again I will be letting you know when I receive the donation and it will all be kept track of if anyone has any questions.
I would like to thank you ahead of time for your donations, I know the troops will greatly appreciate it knowing we are thinking of them....
Thank you....

My Batallion is there right now and will be through Xmas. I know for a fact that any kind of drink mix (just add water kind) and phone cards are on the top.

Looks like we have a Batallion to send Xmas items to.
If you would PM me the contact person (if YOU are not going to be the contact), and what the address is for that person that would be great. Please make sure it is ok with the person to give out his/her name and address, for verifying purposes for stores who will be donating.
Thank you for the advice on presents, it helps alot.
Thank you for serving!

As far as top ramen goes, i could bring this whole idea up with my manager, and see if he can get me some for real cheap. If you guys donate some money, i could get us like 10000 boxes lol. that stuff is cheap but good

it depends sometimes a microwave/stove is hard to come bye. it also depends on where youre at, some bases/camps/instalations get mail and packages alot faster than some. so it wouldnt hurt to send some regular food. i know when were we in kuwait we could get mail in about 2 weeks. and UPS was about the same.

Wow, somebody got this off to a good start. Machelle got a $200 donation to get this going!
I can see that trips to the $1 store are in my future! That store is great for personal size items. More stuff to go around when it gets to the troops.
I think Amy's distribution plan was brilliant as well, letting the lower ranks go first when distributing the goods. Jeepfreak, can you request that of your command, or know someone that can?
I know the whole rank has it's priveleges thing (Navy vet), but it can work backwards too!

I will make sure that the Syscon Watch Officer knows to start from the bottom up. Most of the time it is like that but I will make sure to passit on.
Any kind of books or magazines, clean ones, are good to send over there.

Good morning spotter & bob91yj, I was just wondering how it was going with the Christmas in July effort ? We all hope everything is on track.
Sorry to say, it doesn't look like all the troops will be back home by then.
Until then, throw one back for them.
Steve

Spotter as Bob....
Unfortunetly we have not had a lot of responses....but I am still working on it. It really is sad they will not be home, I just hope I can get enough support to give them all some nice presents.
Thank you so much...

Thank you for all your effort. Helped with a huge Toys for Tots Campaign this year, which also collected items for the troops themselves
