We have FINALLY started the remodel on our house.. plan checks through the city took way too much longer than it should have. We are adding about 450 sq feet to the house, adding a 350 sq feet guest house, and 100 sq feet to our garage, which we will finally have enough room for all of our million tools!!

Back yard today, house gone, widewalk and other misc concrete.. so far we have romoved at least 21 tons from the house, and we still have a lot to demo

what year was your house built, and are you doing everything or just prepping for the concrete and framing?

I'm always impressed when people do their own work. I hope I can do that kind of stuff someday. Please keep posting pics. Fun to see the transition.

It was built in like 195-something.. we are doing nearly everything for the remodel, concrete, framing, pluming, roofing, drywall and finish. the electical and stucco are being sub'ed.

I love breaking out concreete with my 12Lb hammer and pulling down walls. But I hate loading the dumpster and going to the dump. Looks good! It'll be worth it in the end...

The project is moving along fairly well, my dad has put in about 15 hours or so, and the rest has been my little brother and myself. We have inspection on 8/17, and are set to pour concrete this saturday.

The new garage, my Dad and I have been planning how we want to "decorate" the new space, but will mostly include a nice double wide door, with lots of storage containers and shelves for everything.
We spent two hours last week trying to figure out why our new garage was out of square by 3 inches!, so we started from square one and made sure everything was measured correctly from the street, then made sure the new house was square (is out of whack by 1 inch) and then got lost at the garage.. starred at it for a while, finally we realized the brick wall was wrong! so we measured from the new house to the brick wall, and sure enough the brick wall is 3 inches closer than it should be on one end! That wasn't a problem once we figured out what was going on.

Another angle. If anyone wants that green oxygen bottle, they are welcomed to it! some one left it at one of my dads jobs, so he brought it home, we've tried to turn it back in for "reward" or to fill it, but they won't take it because its a medical grade bottle..

Since we didnt have enough to fill the low boy at the time we had it, we went ahead and tore out the front planters. It already has a new and better look!
