We are planning a cross state run, assuming I can get my Jeep smogged here in Ca within a week. It is scheduled for April 25th starting at 7:00 a.m. fri morn,in or near Temecula and we should arrive at stateline in the late afternoon. About 60-70% of the trip will be off pavement. Anybody intersted? No hard core wheelin, just a lot of desert roads and some fun.

How many miles? Got a route planned out that you could maybe show us on google maps or something?
I have no idea what anything after April 11 will be like for me right now, but this sure sounds interesting.
Could a stock XJ make it?

I will post the write up in a day or two with the general route and schedule. Any stock vehicle should have no problem. It is a lot of miles and a very long day. We start with breakfast at 7:00, and attempt to arrive at stateline just before nightfall. I am really hoping to get my ECM in a day or two, and get my Jeep CA legal. The only other major project I have is new front shocks and mounts.

A few more details.
We will be starting at 7:00 a.m. We have done some of the pre-runs the past few weeks and have been making calls to confirm certain routes will be open. I am attempting to build a carputer before this event for GPS tracking, etc... Total mileage should be near 400 with over half being off-road. We are staying at Buffalo Bills for rest and fun. At $60 bucks a night, nice and cheap. My wife will be driving our new Dodge Grand Caravan and will have a scheduled stop midpoint to pick-up people who wish to get to Stateline a little earlier or passengers that are not into getting beat up all day. She should have 3-4 extra seats. www.shellicam.com will be sponsoring the event with some video housings mounted under/on top of a couple vehicles for the post video. This run is on track for Friday April 25th. I will post pics on the finish of the build of my Jeep. I just installed the front shock hoop today, the shocks should go on tomorrow, and the carputer is nothing more than a 9" touchscreen mounted on my dash so far. My ECM is in the mail, hopefully it will arrive in a few days so I can get this thing CA legal. I will try and post some more pics tonight or tomorrow.

I ended up mounting it with a standoff/swivel so it can be directed toward the driver or pasenger. I still need to drill a hole in the dash and grommet it for the AV/power cable. I am also going to install a surface mount Audio Video 2 port on the dash. I almost went flush mount, but the off angle viewing in a CJ is tough. Flat dash, and the dash is so close to you. I also installed my 110 volt outlet on the dash with stainless dust cover. I had a very loud clunk in my steering a few weeks ago while testing the Jeep. It took me a few minutes to find the problem. The rear bushing in the front leaf springs had disintegrated. A new set of bushings and it is much better. We have 5-7 vehicles for the Cross state run so far. Anybody else interested? Should be a great time. I will try to get some info on the general route in a few days.

Still getting the jeep ready for the cross state run. Just picked these up today for it to replace the Rancho 9000 up front. I got a great price at Kartek off road in Corona. Now I got to figure out something to do in the rear of the Jeep.

Next up will be center console, Tuffy, carputer, and a windshield washer reservoir. I lost the available space when I did the engine conversion.

We are having a meeting/dinner at Hunny's reataurant in Corona this Friday night at 6:30 p.m. for the cross state run if anybody is interested in showing up. We have at least 6 vehicles so far assuming I get my Jeep legal. Otherwise I will be bumming a ride.

My bad, been slacking on watching this thread.
I used to do car stereos and can set up whatever you got.
You know where I am, and I'll be home all weekend if you wanna stop by and talk/set something up.

I'm new to this sight. Is this a annual run? I can't make this one but it sounds like a lot of fun.
Sure you might get lost, But don't worry you're biodegradable!
