Hopeing that someone will have the answer. 01' TJ I-6, air intake, throttle body spacer, chip and magnaflow exhaust. New 180 thermostat, water pump, and radiator(and compression tested). I have an overheating problem. engine runs great at high and low speeds with A/C off. The second the A/C kicks on she starts to run hot. At high speeds stays around 210. When on the trail or snailing through traffic runs about 230-240 before it jumps into the red (which usually happens) I'm out of ideas and hopeing someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks.

well , the jeep isn't really that old yet, but maybe you already have a plugged radiator or as a second choice, a malfunctioning fan clutch. sounds like it won't stay cool unless there is a lot of air flow thru it.

Spray out the radator because it fills with all sorts of dust and crap.

Also, there is a TSB(Tech Service Bulletin) to reflash your computer add a heavier fan clutch and a 7 blade fan. You have to pay for this, as the problem isn't common enough for it to be a recall. After doing all this to my 01 TJ, no more overheating.

Cheers, John

Thanks for the help. I had my fan clutch checked out and was told it was good. I'm going to look into a heavy one and try to find a 7 blade fan. How can I reflash my computer? Thanks. Rob

Can't find a heavy duty fan clutch or a 7 blade fan. Who did you get yours through? Stupid question but what is the size of the fan 16" or 17"? Stores keep asking me and I don't know. I have basically the same TJ as you do.
