there are three types of head bolts on my 98 wrangler(4.0 l). anyone know which bolts go where ? i had them marked, then forgot and soaked them in degreaser, and now the numbers are gone. here's a picture, hopefully someone out there knows where they go or where i can find out.
thanks...http://www.jeepaholics.com/support/Files/12724/Images/5m-w-003.JPG

On the earlier 4.0 there are 2 types,  although they're both the same thread size and type, one is longer and has a "stud" head.  This longer bolt with the threaded stud head goes on the drivers side of the head - the injector harness tray slides onto these threaded studs.  The shorter ones with the "regular" style torx flanged head bolts are located on the other side and are covered by the valve cover.  The third style you show, I'm not familiar with, but they're the same length as the ones that are under the valve cover but have the extension on the top - this looks like it should support something - I'm guessing it has something to do with the valve rocker assembly, so depending on how many there are and how the valve rockers are held in place, you should be able to figure out where the two different styles of "inside" bolts belong.

like he said, the threaded tops go on the intake side, the others go on the distributer side, the two with the posts go in the 2nd and 5th hole in the dizzy side and are for the valve cover gasket.  They are torque to yield bolts, meaning the torque (110ftlbs for all and 100ftlbs on the front one, intake side, with sealer) stretches the bolts when you install them.  They are designed to stretch once and only once and should be replaced.  I've run them twice, but for $35, is it worth it?  I just did one last week.
