Hey all, not sure if I should have put this in the general area or not, but if so I apologize, and the mods can move it there if need be....
So, we've had no issue with having two car seats in the YJ factory rear seat (My daughter is 4.5, my son is 2) But as of May 8th, my new little one, Jocelyn Anne, has no where to sit in the jeep! This is no good, and being the procrastinator I am, didn't decide to look into the issue until today.....2 weeks before we go on vacation. Now, I originally though that I would just buy another YJ rear seat, and set them up on the fenders like an old FJ40 setup, but after taking out the seats and hosing down the interior today, I placed the factory sead sideways up on the fenderwell with a couple jack stand to support it.... the factory seat gets all the way to the middle of the tub, and there's not much headroom (this isn't as much of an issue...I can modify the cage and had planned to anyway to increase our protection from a rollover) but it's still pretty tall overall...not really a fan of this idea anymore. I placed the seat in the tub, all the way to the back against the tailgate, and imagined having a second seat facing rearward, with its back up agains the front seats. There's still not much room...they would all be kicking each other, if their legs weren't just laying on top of each other already. So... my question is this: Has anyone ever fit three car seats in their wrangler, and if so, how'd you do it? I've seen the "pink jeeps" in sedona, but man that's a lot of work...at that point it may not be worth the effort. My wife is distraught at the thought of selling her wrangler and getting into a cherokee, but the thought has now crossed my mind. I did a quick net' search and found a rear facing add on seat that can fit in an XJ. Am I destined to sell our beloved YJ, and move into the "family car"?
Any thoughts appreciated...I can weld/fab stuff up pretty well, so a project isn't out of line. Just want some thoughts and opinons about what other people may have done in this situation.
Thanks a bunch, and hope your weekend is well!
Jon
