I have an 88 yj and the 4wd suddenly quit locking in. The tc is fine. I think . I have only owned the jeep for about a year. I dont know much about it but it has been tampered with alot i think. All kinds of dangling things attacthed to nothing but the 4wd has always worked fine. From what I have read it is proly a vac. line. I cant tell if one has come loose or not. Any help on this would be appreciated. I vacume line diagram would be great. One that tells the name of the part that the lines are attatched to would be even better, so I don't have to say the thingy on the shaft that looks like it should have something attatched to it does'nt.

There are three vac lines running to the axle only one is hooked up the other two terminate in a rubber thing that has holes in the opposit end of it. They are not plugged off or connected to anything. Is this the way they should be?

Sounds like your vacum hose is off of the front axle actuator. That vacum hose should plug right in to a fitting on the passenger side of the front axle.

here are some pics of the vac lines to the actuator on the front axle.
There are two empty nipples on the acuator. The green vac line is the only one plugged into it.The two yellow vac lines and the black one running to the rubber fitting have me stumped. The opposite end from where they are plugged in has two holes. I don't remember anything ever plugged into them when the fwd was working. They are just hanging there. the previous owner had them ziptied to the axle. The other fitting on the acuator (not pictured anymore cause it somehow disappeared) is located a little down and left of where the green vac line is connected. I hope this helps someone to help me. Oh, I'm not sure if the axle is a 88yj axle. The jeep don't even have the original frame under it.

think I figured out where the line goes but it still doesnt work. I checked the dealership and its about 62 bucks for a harness. Just dont know if I want to spend that much and it still not work. Does anyone know of a website with a lockrite thats not 120 bucks?
