Daniel Boone National Park, Kentucky - April, 1997
Written by Al Bsharah

This was the first time I made it down to Kentucky. In fact, it was really the first time I had taken my Jeep off-road. Well, other than your typical, late-night construction-site mud-bogging that so many of us started at! Well, as luck would have it, I have a good friend (Jason Head) who lives in Kentucky...right near Daniel Boone National Park where two Jeep Jamboree's are held each year. If I remember right, the trail rating can range from 5-8, depending on weather conditions. Let me tell you, it's all that and MORE...we went places the Jamboree's don't get to go.

Here's me doing my impression of a dog standing on it's hind-legs trying to reach a treat.

Here's Eric demonstrating to the world that mud is NOT the greatest source of traction.

This is Kerry, showing his stuff. His Jeep no longer looks so small these days, but was flexing the crap out of me, that's for sure. My old Trail Master that I used to have certainly couldn't do THIS. Check out those wheel flares... not only extended... but TJ!

Now we have Scott here. Mostly stock Jeep with a simple add-a-leaf (he's now got my old Trail Master lift). ANYWAY, this is going up Carburetor Hill. My nemesis. Took me about 20 minutes to bounce up. Took him a good 45 minutes to get PULLED up. Check out the pucker on his..uhh..face?

Here I am bouncing up a small rock-step. Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of shots heading up Carburetor Hill - probabaly 'cause we were too busy trying to get UP it! Anyway, not bad for a first time outing (for me, anyway...)
