Nice Day For A...

When we first started planning our wedding we wanted to make sure that all of our friends would be able to attend. We thought of the desert and my Aunt and Uncle offered their house in Borrego Springs. That seemed like a pretty good idea and then we started on trying to figure out a suitable date. We wanted to do it before Christmas and thought that Thanksgiving weekend would work out pretty well because a lot of people would already be in the area (TruckHaven is 30-40 minutes from Borrego Springs).

I asked the Dehesa group what they thought about having the wedding in Borrego Springs and it was suggested we just have it at TruckHaven, that way we wouldn't need to worry about people having to drive back to camp after the reception. We were also trying to figure out how to cater it and they suggested that instead of having it catered we have a potluck. The potluck would be their present to us. That seemed like the perfect solution to us... not only would it save us a ton of money but it would make our wedding reception that much more special because our friends would be involved and helping us.

So, we decided that we should get porta-potties for all the tent campers and we also got some tables and chairs for the reception/potluck. And there was all the regular wedding stuff to do as well, but we had a lot of help from a bunch of people. With everything else going on it was a little hectic but everything worked out better than we could ever imagine!

Thanks to Bob and Machelle for finding a place to rent the Porta-Potti's and tables/chairs, for the arch we used in the wedding (they already had it and hauled it out there!), they made signs so everyone could find the camp and Machelle decorated the arch with flowers and made Mandy's beautiful bouquet.

Dick and Sheila (Brett's Aunt/Uncle) helped get all the table decorations together and hauled them out to Borrego Springs.

Vicky Osburn made an unbelievable 3-tiered wedding cake for us. She used to be a cake decorator and can do amazing things with cakes! And, food in general! She baked the tiers at home, brought them, and then decorated them in the motorhome.

Aileen for completing and bringing the beautiful bridal hat.

Brad Kilby brought the speakers we used for the tunes and Jeff Libby took tons of excellent pics. Derrick, Troy, Brad, Matt and Bill Duty fixed my Jeep for me and I honestly can't remember everything. I know there was tons more done by others but there was so much that I just can't remember.

Our kids helped a lot and Steve made a great wedding CD and also got the Suburban stuck! :)

Everybody brought excellent food and we had a great meal. Everything turned out just perfect and we can't believe our good fortune. What a great bunch of friends and I hope I didn't miss anybody, everybody did so much! Thank You!
